Spazio Porto was created by foreign nationals and native citizens of Vicenza with the desire to organize Italian language workshops, bureaucratic support activities and cultural initiatives for citizens of all nationalities. Spazio Porto aims at activating personal skills in the service of the community, social awareness, protection of human rights and development of friendship and brotherhood among peoples, in the spirit of the Italian Constitution. Spazio Porto is a strongly heterogeneous intercultural community composed of people of different ages, ranging from twenty to seventy years old and from different backgrounds: Afghanistan, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Cameroon, Colombia, France, Gambia, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, Guinea Conakry, India, Ireland, Italy, Libya, Mali, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Portugal, Senegal, Serbia, Spain, Tunisia and Ukraine.
The Spazio Porto group was established in June 2021 and subsequently started, in the form of self-help among the participants, the bureaucratic support activity. In early 2022, a new group was created within Spazio Porto specifically dedicated to the creation of intercultural events, which began to draft collectively the “No One Out” project that started in 2023, funded through the European Union’s European Solidarity Corps Program. In addition, in February 2022, the Freirian-style language laboratory “WORDS FOR SAYING, DOING, CREATING: Italian language laboratory for all and by all” was launched.
